The J. Owen Grundy History Award: My Book’s First Honor

On Thursday, May 31, 2018, the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy will be awarding Left Bank of the Hudson: Jersey City and the Artists of 111 1st Street (Fordham University Press) with the 2018 J. Owen Grundy History Award at the organization’s 18th Annual Preservation Awards.

DGD005-PR-JCLC-PROOF-052118This award: “Named after the city’s late historian, the J. Owen Grundy History Award recognizes work that chronicles Jersey City history through a written or visual medium.”

Grundy was a Jersey City historian, author, and longtime advocate for architectural and environmental preservation. He was a key participant in the creation of Liberty State Park.

A fellow Fordham University author, James T. Fisher, received this award for his superb book, On the Irish Waterfront (Cornell University Press) in 2011.

I’m flattered and honored to be included in such august company.
