March Events: Busy Days for an Author

March is looking to be a busy month. I’ll be appearing at two different events this week alone.

On Wednesday, March 7th, I’ll be discussing my book, Left Bank of the Hudson: Jersey City and the Artist of 111 1st Street, at Little City Books in Hoboken, New Jersey. The event starts at 7:00 p.m.

Little City is a well-curated and splendid bookshop. A sanctuary of civility in our increasingly frazzled and uncertain world. The Neumann Leathers Building–one of the last creative redoubts in Hoboken–is threatened with redevelopment. I’m interested in seeing if Hoboken might learn from the mistakes of Jersey City.

On Friday, March 9th, I’ll be speaking at the annual New Jersey Future Redevelopment Forum in New Brunswick, New Jersey. I’ll be presenting about the perilous state of artists in gentrifying cities and the importance of developing public policy ensuring that artists might continue to call cities home. I’m really excited to meet and listen to the brightest and most innovative urban theorists, smart growth advocates, and policy wonks in the Garden State.

Finally (so far), I’ll be moderating a discussion at the newly restored Apple Tree House in Jersey City, New Jersey on Thursday, March 22nd at 7:00 p.m. Reservations required.

NJIT‘s Gabrielle Esperdy will present her public lecture, Learning New Jersey … One Building at a Time. The event is co-sponsored by the Jersey City Office of Cultural Affairs and the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy. If you appreciate history or architecture, you might wish to pencil this event on your calendar.

If you happen to attend any of these events, don’t hesitate to introduce yourself. I enjoy nothing more than chatting with readers. Hope to see you around!
