This past weekend, I had the privilege of leading walking tours as part of the Jersey City Art & Studio Tour. For three days, artists opened their studios, venues hosted events, and residents and visitors enjoyed the best cultural offerings of Jersey City.

I crafted my tours to introduce attendees to longtime cultural institutions (Museum of Russian Art), small studios, (Of Hand, Spirit, & Earth), and artists working in unique forms (CB I Hate Perfume). In total, we visited six art spaces.

While we explored Jersey City’s artistic landscape, I peppered our conversation with tidbits of local history. Both longtime and new residents enjoyed the chance to learn about their city. Several people shared their own historic anecdotes.

A wonderful autumn weekend and a perfect time to discover Jersey City’s culture and history. I’m already looking forward to next year’s JCAST.
